I brought this chest for my new grandson with the prior approval of his parents. It was very well received and will be used as a toy box. It looks lovely, slightly more shiny than I expected from the picture but this will probably wear off. My only reservation is how strong the lid is as I am sure it is inevitable that one day he, as a toddler, will want to scramble on top if it! However I think this a smart asset to his bedroom and good value for money. This is proving to be the case, it is extremely attractive and well made item and would recommend to all. It is a great quality hamper which is smart enough to look like a piece of furniture in our living room. It is big enough for my daughter to hold on to and walk round but not too tall that she can't bend in to it to pick out her toys. The only downside is that the lid can fall on little fingers (as with any trunk, I guess) but this is easily solved by wedging a soft toy by the hinges or tying it back to the wall. A lovely, good-quality trunk - highly recommended. Written By: Michelle Knight (24 November 2008) 5 stars out of 5 This basket is unsafe for use as a toy box. The leather buckles are held together with rivets. One of these wasn't fitted properly on the basket that was sent to me. Luckily I caught my 8 month old baby picking it up before it got to her mouth. Written By: Lena Townsen (21 November 2008) 1 stars out of 5 This basket is great for toy storage.
